Description
Four palm trees stand silhouetted as the sun sets over San Carlos Bay as viewed from a park off the causeway to Sanibel Island, Florida. San Carlos Bay is off the northeast corner of the island due east of Pine Island Sound. The causeway connects Sanibel to the west Florida mainland near Fort Myers. This image was taken on a November evening with a soft breeze coming off the Gulf of Mexico. The forms of the clouds and the colors in the sky as the sun sank over the horizen were lovely and the best conditions for shooting a sunset of my six days on the island. Sanibel is connected to a smaller island, Captiva Island, at its northwest point by a short causeway. Sanibel is the larger island and sixty-eight percent of it is preserved in its natural state, including the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, a great place for bird photography.
