Since the 1940s until a couple of years ago when this plant in Clarksville, Indiana was shut down, Colgate was the main employer for the town. Shortly after this photo was taken, the sign was taken down and the building remains empty.
I grew up exploring the natural world along the Ohio River and in the woods on my father's farm in Southern Indiana. While studying environmental planning in the Architecture School at the University of Virginia, I added an interest in architecture to my love of natural landscapes. My work often is an exploration of how these two subjects interact together in natural light. Most of my images are from near my current home of Alexandria, Virginia, my former home of southern Indiana, and travels to various places in the U.S. with occasional foreign travel.
