Description
This is the historic Greek Revival Lanier Mansion built by banker and lawyer James F. Lanier in Madison, Indiana in 1844. Lanier lived in the house for seven years then moved to New York. His descendants lived in the house until 1917, when it was taken over by the Jefferson County Historical Society and has been run as a museum ever since, It is a state and national historic site.
