Description
An old railroad bridge, The Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge (also known as the Fourteenth Street Bridge), crosses the Ohio River at the historic Falls Of The Ohio at Clarksville, Indiana and terminates at Louisville, Kentucky. The bridge was built in 1870, and refurbished in 1919. Just west of here, William Clark and Merriweather Lewis embarked with their volunteers on the Corps of Discovery. The falls were eliminated by a dam that was constructed in the early 1960s. The area is now an Indiana state park and includes some of the world's finest Devonian era fossil beds.
